In celebration of the Year of the Blue Snake, chef Dana has created her take on Tteokguk (rice cake soup).
The soup is traditionally eaten for lunch on Seollal (Korean New Year’s Day) and dates all the way back to the Joseon dynasty, founded in the 14th century. The white of the rice cakes are said to symbolise brightness for a clean start to the New Year and each region of Korea has its own take on Tteokguk: ours is inspired by the clear broth-based version from Dana’s home region of Gwangju.
Dana’s Tteokguk will be available at lunch and dinner exclusively on Wednesday 29th January, make sure you add ‘Lunar New Year’ to your booking notes so we can save you a bowl!
